WHAT is TIC Designs!?

Well it's custom art, in fact, one of the things that TIC stands for is "This is Custom" but it's much more than that, and one day we'll post the reasoning, 'What's in a name?'

Art and design; It started at a very young age... taking things apart, seeing how they worked, then rebuilding them with even more purpose or function, was hands down my favourite thing to do as a child. Most of my jobs along the way have included that to some degree but I always thought that being an engineer would be boring...plus I don't have the attention span squirrel. << Rewind, not many parents enjoy seeing pieces of their toaster, typewriter, model car parts, paint, and random, found, pieces of who-knows-what-else spread out on the floor...but instead of getting angry, my parents embraced it and let me explore & expand my creativity and imagination. They even encouraged it with my very own toolbox at the age of 6, followed by my very own tool-bench, right next to my Grandfather's, in between the old General tools [which now seem normal, but at such a young age seemed like monstrous green robots, capable of creating but also cutting your damn hand off!] and Grandpas bench, I was thrilled just to be standing close to Grampa J when he's creating something...

Surrounded in creativity from a very young age, from all angles it was sure to stick around in my life.
..and I mean in all angles - as a family we never really bought outfits for special occasions, never purchased costumes, decorations, didn't buy preserves, etc. This was not because we didn't want them or couldn't afford them, but because we would much prefer to make our own! And make our own, we always did.

My Mother and all of my Grandparents have always encouraged creativity and the whole "if you want it done right, do it yourself' mentality. Mom is a creator, from the best pickles and beets you've ever tasted, to beautiful quilts, clothing, and furniture - if she likes it, and she looks at it long enough, she will find a way to make it... and then make it better next time. I would consider her an original "DIYer" (before it was such a well-known acronym.) She, of course, developed those habits from watching her Mother and Father also creators! My Grandfather the Carpenter, who crafted such fine furniture and clocks with great detail (he could build anything!) and my Grandmother who could create everything from delicious meals, to crochet creations that blow my mind to this day.
On the other side, my Grandfather being a writer, and great-Grandfather being a well-respected judge, must be where I developed this obsession with words, poetry, and stories, and my Grandmother who can still run circles around most, cook a meal for 40 on her own, and knit a custom sweater with matching slippers faster than any site can deliver one, with style and sass!

I hope you enjoy browsing what's here so far!
